VERY IMPORTANT: Both the front-end user editor and the back-end administrator editor give you the option to upload and add photos to your articles, but they must be properly sized and in the correct file format before they will display correctly on all devices.
PREPARING YOUR IMAGES FOR UPLOAD
The images you add to your website must be properly sized and in the correct format before you upload them. All images must be in jpg format. Graphics with transparent backgrounds can be in .png format.
Most the images that appear within an article can be around 400x300 pixels in size at 72 dpi. You can go larger or smaller if you like, but be sure to view the results on the finished website after you log out to be sure the results are what you intended.
If you're using Adobe Photoshop, Elements, or similar you should "Save for Web" with a JPG quality number of about 60. This may not be an option with other image editing programs. In that case simply save your jpg file for a medium quality setting.
The images in the showcase banner on the home page are added in the module, so to add or edit those you'll need to edit the module. The resolution of those images are 1800 x 800 pixels at 72 dpi. Best to send those to Bonnie. This process is more complicated than editing articles.
HERE IS A WEBSITE YOU CAN USE TO RESIZE PHOTOS: https://www.birme.net/
IMPORTANT: WHERE IMAGES ARE STORED
The images are divided up into sub-folders, so make sure you upload your image to the proper folder by clicking on that folder before you attempt to upload. Then scroll down to where you see the "Upload file" option. Click on "Browse" and find the image you want to upload. Click "Start Upload" and your image will be added to the article_images folder.
From the Back-End Administrator you can access all the site images through the Media link under the Content tab.
TO UPLOAD AN IMAGE (using the JCE Editor)
The image icon in the top menu of the JCE Editor will take you to a custom JCE menu called the Image Manager
At the bottom of the edit window you will see another image button. Click this button to launch the window and you'll get a slightly different editor (Tiny MCE). You'll have many more options with the top menu link, but the bottom link is simpler.
TO JUSTFY AND IMAGE TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT OF TEXT
Click the picture icon for 'Insert/Edit image'. If the picture is already placed on the page, simply highlite the image you want to edit. A new window will popup that will allow you to change the image, upload an image, add alt text, change the alignment, add margins, and add a border.
You should always add margins to images so text doesn't run right up to it. You will need to uncheck the 'equalize' checkbox.
For left justified images I usually use: Top 0, Right 20, Bottom 0, Left 0
For right justified images I usually use: Top 0, Right 0, Bottom 0, Left 20
Click insert and review your changes. Adjust as needed.
